Longmont is located within Boulder County, but is not a far drive from Downtown Denver. Specifically, it’s just over a 35 mile drive to Denver, and only about 15 miles from the City of Boulder. Many people live in Longmont and commute to Denver or Boulder for employment. Currently, there are approximately 85,000 people living in Longmont. Longmont is the perfect city for residents who enjoy the outdoors. Not only do many homes in Longmont have excellent views of the Rocky Mountains, but the city also contains about 1,500 acres of parks and open space filled with hiking, biking and jogging/walking trails, as well as wildlife. Furthermore Rocky Mountain National Park is located less than an hours drive from the city. Longmont is a very sought-after place to live, and Money Magazine has even labeled it as one of the best 100 places to live in the United States due to its low crime rate, its high quality educational system, reasonable prices for homes, available employment, available entertainment venues, and the city’s dedication to preserving and enhancing outdoor areas. Longmont Economy There are many large businesses that have either corporate headquarters or large regional offices in or near the City of Longmont. The companies which employ the largest number of people are: Longmont United Hospital, Seagate Technology, Amgen, Butterball, the city government, Intrado, the Federal Aviation Administration, McLane Western, Xilinx, and Crocs. The St. Vrain Valley School District is also one of the city’s largest employers. Longmont Real Estate Within the City of Longmont, there are several different neighborhoods and/or subdivisions. Each one has its own unique look to it.
