Parker’s history goes all the way back to 1860 when it was a stop for stage coaches traveling through Colorado. Parker was an extremely small town even when it was incorporated in 1981 with a residential population of just 285. Today, the Town of Parker is considerably more populated with about 45,000 people living within its 15 square mile boundaries. Parker has a huge number of acres dedicated to public parks and more than 700 acres dedicated to permanent open space. Residents as well as visitors frequent these areas to enjoy hiking, jogging, biking, viewing wildlife, and much more. Parker Economy

However, there are businesses and organizations in Parker that do employ people, and the biggest two are the Douglas County School District and the Town of Parker’s government. About 1.7% of families and 2.3% of the population in Parker are below the poverty line, including 2.2% of those under age 18 and 2.1% of those age 65 or over. Parker Real Estate What was once a tiny town with just a few houses is now a suburb of Denver where the median price of a single-family home is $310,000. It’s possible to get homes for less, or condominiums for around $200,000, but the largest homes in Parker currently sell for several million dollars. The Town of Parker is so desirable partially because the downtown area is very old-fashioned with lots of boutiques, restaurants and shopping. The Town also sponsors many community events, such as the annual Art in the Park, a celebration where artists display their work and live entertainment is present. |
