Lakewood is a suburb of the City of Denver. It sits on the west side of Denver, which means it is located close to the Rocky Mountain Foothills – hence, the area has an excellent view of Colorado’s famous mountains.

The population of Lakewood makes it the third largest city in the area. Approximately 140,000 people live in Lakewood’s 44 square miles. According to the United States census, the racial makeup of Lakewood is 87.15% Caucasian, 14.54% Hispanic or Latino, 1.48% African American, 1.11% Native American, 2.72% Asian, and 0.08% Pacific Islander.

Jefferson County R-1 School District employs 11,000 people and the Denver Federal Center, which contains federal government offices, employs over 6,000 people.
